NH Policyholder Earns National Recognition for Workplace Safety

Mar 12, 2024

Congratulations to American Steel Fabricators, an A.I.M. Mutual policyholder based in Greenfield, New Hampshire,  who recently won a safety award from the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC). ASCI is a national technical institute and trade association based in Chicago.

ASCI honored more than 180 structural steel fabricators and erector companies across the nation for their outstanding safety records in 2023. Awards were announced in February.

“We continue to try to keep safety in the forefront with trainings and inspections,” said Kim Sweeney, Controller for American Steel Fabricators.

A.I.M. Mutual has been the workers’ compensation insurer for American Steel Fabricators since 2015. Managing the account is Marilynn Rokes, Senior Underwriter, in partnership with Chris Masters and Rhonda Nobles from The Rowley Agency, who is American Steel Fabricators’ broker. Everyone on the team recognizes the company’s efforts and inroads in managing its workers’ compensation insurance program.

American Steel Fabricators earned a Safety Commendation in the Fabricator category based on its low DART rate. DART stands for Days Away, Restricted or Transfer injuries. DART rates measure the number of recordable lost work cases per 200,000 hours worked and are part of OSHA reporting.

“This award is well deserved and demonstrates American Steel Fabricators’ commitment to providing a safe work environment,” noted Kimberly Walker, Senior Consultant, Injury Prevention & Worksite Wellness at A.I.M. Mutual. “They have a robust safety program and work closely with our workers’ compensation claim team.”

American Steel Fabricators is a full-service structural steel, miscellaneous metals, and ornamental provider, an industry leader in high definition plasma cutting. Their mission dovetails with its workers’ compensation approach: “From day one, American Steel Fabricators has been about two things: customers and employees. Both are wound in a common thread.” The company is a member of the Steel Fabricators of New England and the Associated Subcontractors of Massachusetts as well as AISC.
